The built-in Nexudus Floor Plan editor allows you to create and design your floor plans from scratch to your exact specifications in the Admin Panel. Floor plans in the editor are a great representation of a space as they include much more detail. As you can create the floor plan to your exact specifications, the system will be able to precisely calculate how much revenue each square meter of your building is generating.

If a space has integrated sensors with their Nexudus account, they can overlay occupancy and environment information on top of the floor plan.

Creating a floor plan

  1. In the Inventory module, select the Floor plan tile and then click + Add floor plan.
  2. Enter the floor plan name.
  3. Click Save changes.

Editing a floor plan

Now that the blank floor plan has been created, it is time to start designing the floor plan to your exact measurements, allowing you to get better reporting in Nexudus in the future.

Open the floor plan and select the Edit tab.

Add a tracing image

You can upload a tracing image to help you draw walls and place furniture on the floor plan. The tracing image isn’t visible to customers. To add a tracing image:
  1. Click the More actions button.
  2. Select Tracing image.
  3. Click Select file to choose the image.
  4. Use the image scale bar to adjust the size of the image. We recommend you measure one of the walls in your space and draw at least one of the walls to the exact measurements in the editor before adjusting the scale of the tracing image.

At any point, you can click the image icon to hide the tracing image from the editor window.

Adding building components and furnishings

The first thing you should add to your floor plan are the walls. Some of the other building components, such as windows and doors, cannot be added until there are walls on the floor plan.
  1. Click the building components icon.
  2. Select ‘Wall’ from the list.
  3. Click on a point in the editor window and drag your mouse until your wall is the desired length. Repeat this action to add more walls.
Tip: Holding Shift while drawing a wall will make it completely straight.
To add other building components such as partitions, windows, furnishing, etc – repeat the steps above but select a different option from the building components list.
If you select ‘Furnishing’ from the list, you’ll need to select a furnishing option in the left-hand window, e.g. chair or table. The same for the Stairs / Lift building component option.

At any point, click Save floor plan.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts to add building components to the floor plan. Click the arrowhead at the bottom of the editor to see the list of shortcuts.

  • You can also upload a background image. Unlike tracing images, this background is visible to customers on the Members Portal.
    • Click on the More actions button, select Background image. Click Select file. Use the image scale bar to adjust the size of the image.
  • To rename the floor plan, click the More actions button and then select Change floor plan information. Enter a new name and click Save.

Scaling a floor plan

Did you get the scale of the floor plan wrong? No problem, you can easily re-scale the measurements!

  1. Select the scale plan icon
  2. Draw a measurement on the floor plan
  3. Enter the value for the measurement
  4. Click Confirm. The whole floor plan will be re-scaled based on the given value.

Managing floor plan items

Once the floor plan has been created, the next step is to add items to it. Floor plan items represent the offices, desks, meeting rooms and other items in the space.

In the Manage tab of a floor plan, you can:
  • Add floor plan items.
  • See if an item is assigned to a contract or part of a proposal.
  • See whether an item has been booked.

Nexudus floor plan editor - manage tab

To add floor plan items, select the Manage tab. In the editor, click on an area of the floor plan and a new window will open on the right. You have two options here, link an existing floor plan item or create a new one.

To link an existing floor plan item, select the time from the Use existing unit drop-down list.

To create a new floor plan item, click Create a new unit. A new window will open, if you’ve used the old floor plan editor, this screen should be familiar. Enter the floor plan item name, select the item type, set the status, and select a resource from the Connected resource drop-down list if the time is connected to a resource. Click Save changes.
