CWSC 2025 Recap: The Flex Revolution Arrives in Madrid

After attending the Coworking Spain Conference (CWSC) for the 12+1 year 😉, I can say this with absolute certainty: the community makes this event so uniquely special. It’s not just a place to attend panels or spot the latest coworking trends. It’s where the heart of the coworking movement truly beats.

A Mirror of the Coworking Movement

This year’s edition, held on May 27 and 28 in Madrid, was once again a testament to how far the coworking industry—and this conference—have come. Over the past 13 years, I’ve seen CWSC evolve alongside the very industry it celebrates. What began as a grassroots gathering of passionate space operators in Spain has gradually opened its doors to the world, drawing professionals from across North America, Europe, Latin America, and beyond.

This year, the international presence was stronger than ever. Thought leaders like Liz Elam (GCUC), Uri Uskin (HIT), and Ernesto de Olazával (Comunal) brought a global lens to Madrid. Their insights helped place our local conversations in a broader context, showing how shared challenges—like redefining member experiences, integrating AI, and scaling with purpose—are unfolding around the globe. These voices didn’t just inform us. They helped connect us to where the industry is heading next.

Healthy Growth and Solid Data

Another highlight was the release of fresh data presented by Macarena Bauman from CBRE, alongside the annual report shared by Manuel Zea, based on insights from CoworkingSpain.es, the leading coworking marketplace in Spain. Together, these reports confirmed what many of us already sense: the coworking and flex office sector is in a very healthy place. With strong demand, increasing interest from corporate clients, and consistently high occupancy rates, the outlook points toward continued growth not only in major cities but also in emerging markets across the country.

It’s in the Hallways, Too

As always, the real magic often happens between panels. Whether it’s grabbing coffee with someone opening their first space, exchanging stories with long-time operators, or catching up with those familiar faces who, like me, never miss a CWSC; these are the moments where you take the pulse of the industry.

There’s something powerful about seeing newcomers and veterans in the same room, united by shared values like openness, flexibility, innovation, and most importantly, community. It’s these values that brought many of us into coworking in the first place, and it’s clear they’re just as relevant today.

A Personal Thanks

To Manu, Marc, Laura and everyone who helped organize, spoke on stage, or simply showed up and brought their energy, thank you. Thirteen years in, and CWSC still manages to surprise and reinvigorate. If coworking is a movement, this conference is its yearly celebration. And I feel incredibly lucky to be part of it.

Until next year.
